In 2014, Breitling introduced the Caliber B50, aimed at pilots. This year, they have announced that they will be introducing the B55 Connected, a new model in this line.
The model places an emphasis on the smartphone, to enhance the functionality of the timepiece. It’s the first in a new generation of connected chronographs from Breitling. Instead of the B55 Connected being dependent on a smartphone, the connection is instead designed to improve its user-friendliness.
The user can utilize a smartphone to perform adjustments that include time-setting, timezones, alarms, display and operating parameters, and night mode – among others.
To improve upon the experience for pilots, a variety of information and measurements such as flight times can be uploaded from the B55 Connected to the smartphone, allowing them to be read more easily, stored and passed on.
The watch is designed with a technical appearance in mind, boasting a titanium case. Contained within is an in-house calibre B55 thermocompensated SuperQuartz movement.
It features both an analog and digital 12-hour and 24-hour display, whilst an ultra-bright backlight for the two large LED displays turns on automatically when the timepiece is tilted to a 35-degree angle. A blue wireless symbol is also displayed, whilst the watch is connected to a smartphone.
In order to charge the B55 Connected, Breitling has added the option to recharge the battery via a USB port.
