Omega has announced at Baselworld 2015 that it will expand its lunar-inspired range with the launch of Speedmaster White Side of the Moon.
The 44.25 mm case will house an Omega Co-Axial Calibre 9300 movement. It is the same in-house movement that the rest of the range includes, with 54 jewels, a frequency of 28’800 A/h (4 Hz) and a minimum power reserve of 60 hours.
White Side of the Moon is inspired not by an astronaut’s view of the lunar surface, but rather how the celestial body is seen from Earth. The design heavily relies on bright, white tones and is complemented by a white leather strap. It is produced using white ceramic.
Its counterpart, the Omega Speedmaster Dark Side of the Moon, will be available in four distinct colours – “Black Black”, “Sedna Black”, “Pitch Black”, and “Vintage Black”.
In similar fashion to the Dark Side of the Moon, the timepiece features a tachymeter scale surrounding the bezel of the dial. The caseback, has beveled scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, and is engraved with the name of the watch.
An officially certified chronometer, the timepiece boasts Super-LumiNova coating and is water resistant up to a pressure of 5 bar (50 meters / 167 feet).
